Deal Opens Gateway To US Public Safety Market

BRISBANE, QUEENSLAND, 8/2/2006

Brisbane based mobile communications specialist Technisyst today signed a supplier deal with American giant, Velocita Wireless, worth millions of dollars per year, which will take network technology currently being used by the NSW government to the US Public Safety and Homeland Security markets.

The agreement will see Technisysts intelligent public safety technology combined with the Velocita Wireless data network to provide a managed service lifeline to Americas emergency services first responders.

Technisyst is already on the verge of signing deals to supply the public safety communications package and conservatively estimates these deals to be worth $US5 million per annum to Technisyst by the end of 2007.

Three months after completing a $15 million mission-critical network for NSW State Government, Queensland mobile communications company Technisyst will export its solution to the US. Executive director Brian Webb says Technisyst will start by targeting small public safety agencies looking for cost effective wireless data solutions.

Technisysts TC Gateway product is about providing options for mobile communications, whether thats a choice of networks, applications or devices. Our technology is already widely used by Public Safety agencies throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Mr Webb is optimistic about the company's commercial opportunities in the US, given the highly fragmented nature of North America's emergency services. There are about 55,000 police departments, 100,000 fire departments and 100,000 ambulance services. In San Diego alone, citizens can be pulled over by a sheriff, a police officer or a highway patrol, all belonging to separate law enforcement agencies.

Among the systemic flaws highlighted by 9/11 was the absence of a secondary data communications network in the event of a primary systems failure. TC-Gateway, which blends custom-built dispatch software with a mobile unit, overcomes this by allowing myriad wireless devices to roam on a wide range of terrestrial and satellite networks.

The advantage, says Mr Webb, is that it makes use of an agency's existing infrastructure. "Only 10 per cent of agencies have this type of capability in the US. There's 90 per cent out there who want it."

Technisyst Executive Director, Brian Webb said, our technology will be showcased at the Association of Public Safety Communications Officials Conference at Royal Pine on the Gold Coast on the 13 -15 February 2006. Technisyst is a Gold Sponsor of the APCO conference which will feature keynote addresses from European and North American industry officials.
