Bus Automatic Vehicle Location

Knowing where your fleet are is vital if you are looking to gain efficiencies from their operations. Technisyst tracks each bus from the moment it leaves the depot to the moment it returns. A proven trust algorithm combines GPS location, odometer pulses and the known service path to deliver pin point location accuracy for route buses. The AVL location algorithm works in tunnels, on bridges and in areas of high reflections that play havoc with solutions that use GPS alone. Position solutions for buses that are on route are routinely obtained with a precision better than one meter and errors less than 30 meters at the 99% confidence level.

Buses report their location to the central server every time they get to points of interest such as arriving at a stop, departing a stop, arriving and departing intersections and other points along the route. This means that communications is not loaded down with messages that are of no use to the system.

At any time a dispatcher may request an updated position of a bus or can select a continuous position report at any rate they need.

As the bus locations are reported they are displayed on the dispatcher GUI map display showing how the bus is tracking (early, late) and other service information such as if it is on service or is dead running.

RAPID’s real time AVL is never more important that in a time critical emergency or driver duress situation. As soon as a driver activates a hidden alarm RAPID will alert the dispatcher, showing the location of the bus and changing the position reporting frequency to assist with threat management.

An optional Driver Display will display the time, route and direction information as well as indications of schedule deviation based on waypoint updates. If connected to the duress button the display will include suitable indicators to show that a duress message has been acknowledged by the MSS.
